Nailing scope is one of the most important things a PM can do to ensure that your project will be successful. Without well-defined scope, you can’t properly define budget, schedule, quality and you won’t satisfy your stakeholders. Business Analysts are key in helping you to do clearly define what is in and what is out of scope. They can also help you to discern what the business WANTS vs. what they NEED. We aim to deliver the latter. JAD sessions can be a great way to enable your team to arrive at the RIGHT scope to achieve project objectives. For those of you who are familiar with JAD sessions, here is friendly reminder that you can pass along…many thanks to Debbie Watson, PMP for this information!
A JAD Session is a structured workshop conducted to capture Business and Functional Requirements and/ or define project scope. It is attended by carefully selected key stakeholders and subject matter experts. JAD Sessions promote trust, mutual understanding, and strong communications among the project stakeholders and project team members. A well – run JAD Session is a well – planned JAD Session.
